Love the idea. Have you visited Erin Rose in New Orleans? Fantastic dive bar that has a teenie food window in the back run by Killer PoBoys, which make insanely delicious sandwiches. It is the best.
Hell yes I have. A great example of how well it can work. I can’t even remember if they had food or not prior to Killer, but it was not notable if they did. I went to school down there and have seen the pre and post. In fact, I am boarding a flight now for the long weekend down there! Erin Rose always makes an appearance, the one thing that was better pre-Killer was the juke box - rip.
Right on- have a great weekend! New Orleans and Montreal are my two favorite cities to visit. If you have it in you, I'd love some recommendations for my next visit to NOLA, especially live music spots (and, vegetarian spots to eat). Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Parasol’s firecracker shrimp poboy is a favorite for me. Turkey and the wolf has a collared green melt (veggie). Fried green tomatoes at Jaque Imos. The Maple Leaf Bar next door is a great spot for music, I like BJs Lounge in bywater a lot too. Saturn Bar and Siberia can be great for some less nola specific music.
A cold ale and a spicy curry? I'm in. Bring on the spice dives! And yeah, fuck ICE!
