I was born in Memphis and my mom's family is all from there, so I really enjoyed reading your (accurate, I feel) perspective about the city's state, being stuck in the past, etc. Memphis has always been a good time, but it's also a little depressing because of what it once was.

Sounded like the type of place I hope to find in every new city. I also think it would have made this trip wildly different.
